Deputy Director, EOHHS Medicaid Program

John Bonin

John Bonin serves as the Medicaid Deputy Director for the state of Rhode Island. As the Deputy Director he is responsible for the development and oversight of Medicaid Long-Term Services and Supports and Medicaid program operations. He began his service with the State of Rhode Island in December 2016 and served as the Chief of Staff for Medicaid Director and interim Chief of Staff for the Secretary of the Executive Office of Health and Human Services.  John retired from the United States Army in November 2016 following a 23-year career. 

He is a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science – International Relations. He is also a graduate of the Naval War College and the Army War College.
